Cardi B’s upcoming second album has been in the works for a while now, and after the release of huge hits ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’, fans have been keen to hear more from Cardi.
The rap superstar has now revealed, however, that we’re all going to have to wait a little longer as she plans on going away for a ‘very long time’ to work on the album.
Speaking to XXL Magazine, the 28-year-old explained, “I feel like at this point, it’s like a timeline that I created. Because last year I was like ‘I gotta put out my album this year’, but then I just stopped working on my album out of nowhere because I feel like the whole COVID thing discouraged me to put out my album.”
Cardi then explained that she wants to wait until she can promote her music away from the new world of Zoom calls and video interviews, continuing, “I don’t feel like if I do like, an album promo run and everything, like, there’s no feelings to it, me doing interviews with people through a computer. I want to meet up with people. I want to have a conversation. It’s a better vibe.”
Her plans for promoting her new music with better vibes not only includes in-person conversations, but in true Cardi style will involve some mega launch parties, with the ‘I Like It’ singer continuing, “I love album release parties. I would love an album release party in New York. I could have one in Atlanta, but I want one also at home. And I want to see people.
As she continues to release singles, the rapper revealed that she feels she has “no choice but to put out my album this year”, before adding, “A week of making sure I handle all my business, making sure everything is good, go to meetings. And then, I’m going away for a very long time to finish my album.”
Cardi B’s debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’, released in April 2018, reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200. Since then, she has released two tracks from her upcoming second album – ‘Wap’, which hit the Number 1 spot in the UK and US, and ‘Up’ which flew into the Top 20.
