Liam Gallagher Will Make His Live Return To The UK Festival Circuit In September When He Headlines Isle Of Wight Festival

The iconic British rocker will headline the Friday night at the festival which is returning after a year’s break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, superstar DJ David Guetta will headline the Saturday night while Duran Duran will headline the Sunday.

The initial weekend was set for June 18 – June 20 meaning it fell inside the period when government restrictions would have been in place.

However, following the release of Boris Johnson’s path to freedom and relaxing of all social distancing measures by June 21, bosses have switched things up.

The weekend will now take place September 16 – September 19.

Festival promoter John Giddings said: “Our audience always has an incredible time at the festival and we’re thrilled with the line-up on offer for them.

“It’s a fantastic array of artists from icons to emerging talent and not forgetting everything still to come from additional stages across the festival.

“Over the coming months we’ll be watching and learning from the events taking place before us and, of course, liaising with all the relevant authorities to make sure everyone – audience, artists, staff, the community – is kept safe.”

While Isle of Wight was able to switch things around to keep plans on the road, other festivals have fallen victaim to Covid for the second year running.

Download Festival have cancelled their planned 2021 weekend.

It had been hoped that the rock festival would be able to return sometime this summer after the government released its roadmap to freedom.

However, a statement posted to the festival’s official Twitter feed confirmed that won’t be the case.

The message read: “‘We’re sorry to announce that Download 2021 will no longer be taking place.

“Please read the full statement below. ‘Download will return stronger than ever 10th – 12th June 2022 with headliners Kiss, Iron Maiden, and Biffy Clyro.”
