Gerard Pique’s presence in “El Clasico” is looking increasingly doubtful. The centre-back trained alone on Tuesday and will try to prove his fitness with the rest of the squad on Thursday ahead of the clash with Real Madrid.
Since picking up an injury in the cup tie against Sevilla, Gerard Pique has been working tirelessly to recover for this weekend’s clash with Real Madrid, but it is not looking good.
According to ‘AS’, the Barcelona centre-back has been worried for several days because his discomfort won’T disappear and he could not keep up with the rhythm in Saturday’s group training session.
The paper indicated that, at the moment, him playing in ‘El Clasico’ is more than in doubt. In fact, this Tuesday he trained alone and will wait until Thursday to train again with the squad.
If he is still not right that day then Pique, a leader in defence for the Catalan side, will have to sit on and watch the game from the stands.
As a last resort, the club are weighing up the possibility of giving him painkillers, but the cited media outlet says that club sources believe the chances of this happening are “very remote”. This is because it could lead to the central defender aggravating his injury.
