France striker Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring for his men with a brilliant goal from the edge of the box which counted only because there is no VAR in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Europe.
France took 19 minutes to take the lead against Ukraine in their first game in 2022 World Cup qualifying and they did so due to the lack of VAR.
The VAR would have had two reasons to disallow the goal. Firstly, Pavard was clearly offside when the ball was passed forward.

Then the ball struck the arm of Griezmann while he was fighting for the ball with an opponent. Neither the referee nor the linesman spotted it so play continued.
Then, the number ‘7’ found space on the edge of the box and shot home with his left foot into the far corner. Ukraine keeper Bushchan had no chance.
