Haaland Has Been Linked With A Move To Spain

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has explained in a press conference that the club would have to sell players to be able to cash in on the player if the team miss out on the Champions League spots.

Many now think this means Haaland will leave Dortmund despite the Germans having no intention of selling him.

Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, explained in a press conference prior to Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Stuttgart what it would mean if his team missed out on the Champions League places. They are currently seven points off it.

Therefore, he made it clear to the press that if that happened, they would have to sell players. “We would miss out on between 80 and 90 million euros in income,” a worried Zorc said.

Losses which are also due to the fact the games are played behind closed doors: “If we have to play the rest of the season without fans, as seems likely, we’ll have losses of between 80 and 90 million euros which we won’t get. We’ll have to act based on that.”

It is for that reason that many have interpreted from these comments from the sporting director that Sancho or Haaland could leave. They are the club’s two highest valued stars.

That said, Zorc still thinks that the club will do everything possible to keep Haaland at the club. “I don’t see any need to put any deadline on this type of signings. With regards to Erling Haaland, I think I’ve said it three times, we have a clear stance and we’ve told those involved that. That’s all.”

All of this is while rumours over the 20 year-old Norwegian moving to La Liga continue to spread. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are after him.
