In an interview with “Sky Germany”, Thomas Tuchel talked about his dismissal from PSG. The current Chelsea manager spoke to Leonardo, the club’s sporting director, for less than two minutes. His Christmas was also pretty bad.
Tuchel has given more details on his departure from PSG. He is currently in the Chelsea dugout but, speaking to “Sky Germany”, he recounted the disappointing episode in his career in which had a cold conversation with Leonardo after a 4-0 victory over Strasbourg.
“After that – the victory at Strasbourg – Leonardo and I had a conversation which lasted no more than two minutes because he didn’t have much else to say to me. When I got up I told him I had to fix things and left. We packed our things in Paris and came home to celebrate Christmas. At work I had a sh*t Christmas but I found the best gift under the Christmas tree with Chelsea”, the manager said.
“It was very surprising. I remember it was the 22nd December, I felt it was going to happen from early in the afternoon. I had a conversation with the sporting director (Leonardo) and, later, I received more news just before the game against Strasbourg the following day. I felt like they might fire me but I didn’t believe it. We beat Strasbourg 4-0”, he continued.
The job was taken by Mauricio Pochettino, who currently has the French club in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Last year, the club reached the final under Tuchel but were beaten by Bayern Munich, their opponents in this year’s quarter-final.
